 4. The Kyrenian mountains are really mysterious!

Perched high in the Kyrenian Mountains, among the exuberant greenery, there stands the Saint Hilarion Castle. This majestic stone  “giant”  is open for tourists from April to October.

The walls of Kantara Castle keep the age-old secrets. To climb to the castle, you will have to overcome 170 steps. Locals say that according to the legend, the castle comprises 101 rooms, and a lucky person who finds the 101st room will go straight to heaven. It is believed that the castle is haunted by ghosts of the Cyprus queen and a woman in black.

The Buffavento Castle is a gem of the Kyrenian Mountains, lying among their steep cliffs. Its ruins still look impressive and enigmatic. The castle used to be a prison, a treasury and a fortress.

Legend says that there was a magical spring near the castle, where a monastery stands now.

5. One more place worth a visit is a harbour town of Kyrenia. The town offers a lot of things to admire: a picturesque harbour with crystal clear, turquoise water, an impregnable fortress on the shore, the Shipwreck Museum, the Folk Art Museum.
