Get your Residence Permit in Northern Cyprus in 10 steps

The next step after buying a property in Northern Cyprus is obtaining a residence permit.

Here is the instruction of how to do it yourself.

1. Go to https://permissions.gov.ct.tr/staypermit/login 
If you are outside the TRNC, the link may not open.

2. Click the sign-up button. Fill in a special form. Be careful, if you make a mistake, you won’t be able to correct it online. Please, indicate your local phone number at the end of the form. You will receive an SMS with login information.

3. Go to the web site again and enter your login information. You can change the password, but keep it in mind, because this is your personal account logon for further extension of the residence permit.

4. Select the basis for obtaining a residence permit. In our case, this is property ownership. Choose 6 months or 1-year period of validity. For the first residence permit request, 2 years are not given.

5. Fill in the income column: select "bank deposit" and input the amount by choosing the currency. The indicated amount should be your income per month. For example, $ 10,000 is shown as 10,000/12 months - $ 835.

6. Upload a scanned copy of your passport and a Resident's Certificate issued by Head of the locality (Mukhtar). The certificate must be provided in advance.

7. You receive the date and time of registration at the migration office.

8. At the appointed time, bring the following documents to the police:
∙ Copy of passport (page with photo and page with entry stamp). If the entry stamp is on a separate sheet, give a scanned copy of this sheet
∙ Passport size photo
∙ Original certificate issued by Mukhtar
∙ Real estate Sales Contract or a Title deed
∙ If your property is still under construction submit a lease agreement to confirm the place of residence
∙ Bank statement
∙ If you have a child, then submit a copy of the child's passport
∙ If you have a spouse, then submit a copy of the marriage certificate with translation.

9. After submission of the documents a window for paying for insurance and medical tests will open in your personal account. After paying with a bank card, you will be provided with the address of the laboratory where to drive up and donate blood. After receiving the results, take them to the migration office.

10. Then you have to wait for the residence permit application to be approved. The decision will be posted in your personal account, after that you will be able to pay for the residence permit itself. After payment, you can download and print your personal file. This is the residence permit!
