From May 1 to October 31, a special fire prevention regime is introduced in Northern Cyprus.
During this period, it is forbidden to make any fires, for any purpose, including barbecue or rubbish incineration.
Ban breakers can be fined at a rate ten minimum wages or sentenced to prison for up to 5 years.
Those responsible for a fire on an area of more than 1 hectare can be fined at a rate of 100 minimum wages or imprisoned up to 15 years.
