Ercan Airport Parking in 2026: Prices and New Rules

In August 2026, new traffic and parking arrangements were introduced at Ercan Airport in North Cyprus.

The changes are particularly important for anyone driving to the airport to pick up arriving passengers.

It is also worth understanding the current parking charges: how long you can stay free of charge, how much it costs to leave your car for several hours or a full day, and where you can now wait for arriving passengers.
Here is what drivers need to know as of early September 2026.

New Traffic Rules at Ercan Airport

The new traffic arrangements came into effect on 24 August 2026.

Their main purpose is to reduce congestion around the arrivals terminal.

Previously, many drivers would arrive early and wait on the access road near the arrivals area. This regularly caused congestion, particularly when several flights landed within a short period.

Under the new rules, drivers are no longer allowed to wait for passengers on the road leading to the arrivals terminal.

If you arrive before the person you are meeting, you should use the airport car park.
Vehicles left in prohibited areas may be removed, and drivers may also face a fine.

The First 15 Minutes Are Free

A short grace period is available for drivers making a very quick stop.

0–15 minutes — free
This can be useful if the passenger has already left the terminal and you simply need to drive in, collect them and leave.
Once you stay beyond the free period, parking charges apply.

Special First-Hour Rate for Passenger Pick-Ups

As part of the new traffic arrangements, a special parking rate was introduced for private vehicles arriving specifically to collect passengers.

First hour — 50 TL (approximately €0.90).
This rate was introduced in connection with the new passenger pick-up system implemented in August 2026.

It is important not to confuse this special pick-up rate with the airport’s standard parking tariff, which has a separate pricing structure.

How Much Does Standard Parking at Ercan Airport Cost?

For passenger cars, the standard parking charges are:
• 0–15 minutes — free
• 15 minutes–1 hour — 150 TL (approximately €2.70)
• 1–2 hours — 300 TL (approximately €5.30)
• 2–6 hours — 400 TL (approximately €7.10)
• 6–12 hours — 450 TL (approximately €8)
• 12–24 hours — 650 TL (approximately €11.50)

After the first 24 hours, parking is charged at approximately 650 TL (€11.50) for each additional day.

Euro equivalents are approximate and are based on exchange rates at the beginning of September 2026.

How Much Does It Cost to Leave a Car at Ercan for Several Days?

If you leave your vehicle in the official airport car park and pay the daily rate, the approximate cost is:
• 1 day — 650 TL (approximately €11.50)
• 3 days — 1,950 TL (approximately €35)
• 7 days — 4,550 TL (approximately €81)
• 14 days — 9,100 TL (approximately €162)

Longer-term parking passes are also available.

Indicative rates are:
• 1 month — 9,000 TL (approximately €160)
• 6 months — 36,000 TL (approximately €640)
• 1 year — 72,000 TL (approximately €1,280)

For drivers who regularly leave their vehicle at the airport for extended periods, a longer-term parking option may therefore be considerably cheaper than paying the daily rate.

What Has Changed for Passenger Pick-Ups?

The most important change concerns waiting for arriving passengers.

If the passenger has already left the terminal, you may be able to use the short free parking period.

If the flight has not yet landed, or the passenger still needs time to clear arrivals and collect their luggage, you should enter the car park and wait there.

Waiting on the access road leading to the arrivals terminal is no longer permitted.
It is therefore a good idea to check the actual arrival time of the flight before driving to the airport.

What Has Changed for Taxis, Buses and Tourist Transport?

The new traffic arrangements also apply to commercial passenger transport.
Dedicated waiting areas have been introduced for taxis, buses and other tourist vehicles.

The aim is to reduce the number of vehicles waiting immediately outside the arrivals terminal and keep the area in front of the terminal moving more efficiently.

Commercial vehicles are expected to wait in the designated areas and approach the terminal when required.

The Exit Route Has Also Changed

The new system also includes changes to the way vehicles leave the parking area.
Traffic is directed towards the main airport exit rather than being routed back towards the arrivals terminal.

This is intended to reduce intersecting traffic flows and ease congestion immediately outside the terminal building.

What If You Are Dropping Someone Off?

If you are simply driving someone to Ercan Airport for a departing flight, the situation is more straightforward.

If you only need to drop off the passenger and unload their luggage, long-term parking is normally unnecessary.

However, you should not leave the vehicle unattended in the traffic area outside the terminal while accompanying the passenger inside.

If you would like to go into the terminal or stay for a while, using the car park is the safer and more practical option.

Parking at Ercan Airport for Several Days

The official airport car park is not the only option for travellers leaving North Cyprus for several days or weeks.

There are also private long-term parking facilities in the Ercan area, some of which provide transfers to and from the terminal.
For a longer trip, their prices may differ from the airport’s daily parking rate, so it can be worth comparing the options in advance.

For a short stay or a straightforward passenger pick-up, however, the official airport car park remains the most convenient option.

What Should You Remember Before Driving to Ercan Airport?

The main parking and traffic rules as of early September 2026 are:
• the new traffic arrangements have been in effect since 24 August 2026;
• waiting on the access road to the arrivals terminal is no longer permitted;
• the first 15 minutes of standard parking are free;
• a special first-hour rate of 50 TL (approximately €0.90) applies to passenger pick-ups under the new arrangement;
• the standard 15–60 minute parking rate is 150 TL (approximately €2.70);
• 1–2 hours costs 300 TL (approximately €5.30);
• 2–6 hours costs 400 TL (approximately €7.10);
• 6–12 hours costs 450 TL (approximately €8);
• 12–24 hours costs 650 TL (approximately €11.50);
• after the first 24 hours, the daily rate is approximately 650 TL;
• vehicles parked in prohibited areas may be removed, and drivers may face a fine.

The biggest practical change is simple: if you arrive before the passenger you are meeting, use the car park rather than waiting on the road outside the terminal.

If the passenger has already collected their luggage and is ready to leave, the free 15-minute period may be enough to drive in, pick them up and head home.

Information and parking rates are current as of early September 2026. Euro equivalents are approximate and may vary with exchange rates. For longer stays, it is advisable to check the tariff displayed at the airport car park before leaving your vehicle.
